She, who for years has been one of the most important women in my life, who has loved me to an extent I cannot requite, who has been the factual demonstration that love is deserved and happens in spite of your will, who has supported me in ways I have not even had notice of, departed today for Barcelona.
My best will goes with her, and from the bottom of my heart, I expect her to be happy, something I couldn't do back in the time.

Por algún motivo me hizo llorar por dentro. No doy detalles, pero la que se va soy yo. Y sí, quizá a Barcelona, aunque la fecha aún no es exacta. Condenados a los finales felices, ni siquiera puedo llorar por la despedida, ni estar triste. Soy feliz. Creo que él será más feliz de lo que es. Y debería leer más en inglés... al fin, así aprendí gramática en español. ¿Recomendaciones que sean inteligibles para mí sin diccionario en mano? Tuve que desertar de Dickinson, demasiadas complejidades. ¿Será muy ambicioso tratar con Faulkner? Se aceptan sugerencias.
Me lleva: contesté hace un chorro y no se quedó... A ver si me acuerdo de todo lo que escribí.
Ésa es de las noticias que no se sabe si son buenas o malas: ¿debiera uno sentir alegría por el que se va o tristeza por su ausencia? Y sin embargo, ninguna alegría debiera ser amarga.
De momento, Faulkner no es buena idea: cuesta un chorro de trabajo. Acabo de soltar Plain Tales from the Hills de Kipling y es una chulada. To Kill a Mockingbird de Harper Lee es un libro bello como él solo, y casi me saca las de cocodrilo dos veces. Things Fall Apart de Chinua Achebe, aunque nunca lo he visto acá, Midnight Mass de Paul Bowles, The Dharma Bums de Kerouac, The Scarlet Letter de Hawthorne. La lista era más larga, pero ya se me fueron varios...
